A buyer who could not find the shoe she wanted
Annamaria Brivio started on the other side of the counter. After university she worked as a buyer for multi-brand boutiques in Milan, the job that shows you exactly where a market has a hole in it. With Massimo Baltimora she ran the Baltimora Studio showroom, and in 2012 the two opened Norrgatan, a luxury boutique in Monza, the small city just north of Milan. What she could not find for those shelves was a shoe that was fashion-led, well made and priced under the big Italian houses. In 2015 she and Baltimora founded Paris Texas to make it.
The name is the design brief in two words. Paris stands for the elegant, pared-back side, the pointed toe and the plain patent pump. Texas stands for the bold side, the cowboy shaft, the Western stitching, the metal toe cap. Most of the range sits somewhere on the line between the two. The fashion label has nothing to do with the 1984 Wim Wenders film of the same name beyond the borrowed spirit.
Made in Monza
The shoes are made in Italy at a medium-sized factory in Monza, the same town as the boutique. That is worth knowing because it is unusual for a label at this price: a house that controls its production can put a 105 mm covered stiletto on a mule and keep the shape consistent from one season to the next, which is how the Lidia became a continuity style rather than a one-off. Every pair carries a leather insole with the name embossed and a leather sole lacquered to match the shoe, in the house pink the brand calls Texas Rose on most boots. It scuffs with wear, as every leather sole does, and it is the quickest way to recognise the label from across a room. The Texan boot and the Lidia
Two shapes carry the house. The Texan boot is the cowboy boot rebuilt for a city: a pointed toe, Western stitching on the shaft and a covered block heel, 60 to 100 mm. It comes as an ankle boot, the Dallas, a mid-calf, the Dakota, and a knee-high, the El Dorado, in calf and suede, with an engraved metal toe cap on the Embellished Toe versions. The white mid-calf Texan on a stiletto that Beyonce wore on the Cowboy Carter cover in 2024 was the Paloma, a shape from the same family, and she followed it with custom crystal-fringed Texan boots on the tour. The Lidia is the other pillar, and the one most customers buy first: a long pointed toe on a slim covered stiletto, made as a mule, a slingback, a pump, a sabot and a T-strap sandal, at 105 mm and at a more wearable 70 mm. It is cut in patent, suede, satin, velvet, croc-embossed and mirrored leather, so the same shape can be a black patent office shoe and a gold mirrored party shoe. Who wears it
Beyonce is the headline, but the brand had a long list before her. Harper’s Bazaar names Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Emily Ratajkowski and Kylie Jenner among the women photographed in it, and the pointed mule became a street-style fixture through the late 2010s. In 2023 the label partnered with Net-a-Porter on a show collection and made a bridal capsule with Browns in London. In 2024 it worked with the photographer Nadia Lee Cohen on a small range of cowboy boots and 1990s mules, and WWD covered the Cowboy Carter tour boots alongside it.
Who owns it now
In 2023 the Brazilian footwear group Arezzo and Co bought a 65 percent stake in Paris Texas for 25 million euros, its first acquisition outside Brazil; the founders kept 35 percent and the Monza factory came with the deal. Brivio kept the creative role, and the Spring 2026 collection shown in Milan was still built around the Lidia and the Nina sandal. Production stayed in Monza.
