Is Paris Texas a Luxury Brand? Made in Italy, Owned by Arezzo, Worn by Beyonce
Paris Texas is asked this question more than most labels because its shoes look like they belong to a house with a century behind it and the price says otherwise. The short answer is that it is a made-in-Italy designer footwear brand, founded in 2015, priced below the couture houses and above the contemporary labels, and owned since 2023 by a large footwear group. Whether that counts as luxury depends on what you mean by the word. This page gives the facts and lets you decide.
Key facts
- Founded in Milan in 2015 by Annamaria Brivio, a former buyer for the city’s multi-brand boutiques, and her business partner Massimo Baltimora.
- Every shoe is made in Italy at a factory in Monza, outside Milan, on a leather sole; most styles carry the house’s pink Texas Rose lacquered sole.
- In March 2023 the Brazilian footwear group Arezzo and Co bought a 65 percent stake for 25 million euros; the founders kept 35 percent and Brivio the creative role.
- Beyonce wore white Paris Texas Paloma cowboy boots on the cover of Cowboy Carter in 2024; Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski have been photographed in the label.
- At Luxury Handbags the range runs $1,060 to $3,080, median $1,450; the brand lists its shoes at about EUR 545 to EUR 1,690 in Europe.
What the brand is
Annamaria Brivio worked as a buyer before she was a designer, and the label came out of what she could not buy: a shoe with a fashion silhouette, Italian make and a price under the big houses. The name is the brief. Paris for the elegant, pared-back side of the range, the pointed toe and the plain patent pump. Texas for the bold side, the cowboy shaft, the Western stitching and the metal toe cap. The label showed its first collections in Milan and grew through stockists like Net-a-Porter and through the street-style photographs of its pointed mule.
Made in Italy, and what that means here
The shoes are made in a medium-sized factory in Monza, which the brand has used since the beginning. That matters for two reasons. A house that controls its production keeps a shape consistent from season to season, which is how the Lidia became a continuity style rather than a one-off. And it keeps the construction at a level the price does not always promise: a leather sole, a leather insole with the name embossed, a covered heel, and the uppers cut from calf, nappa, calf suede and patent calf. The croc styles are embossed calf and the python and lizard styles are printed calf, not exotic skins, and the brand says so on each product page. The care guide goes through each material.
Where it sits in the market
By price, Paris Texas is contemporary-luxury: a Lidia mule at $1,150 and an El Dorado boot at $2,200 at Luxury Shoes , which is roughly half of what a couture house asks for a comparable shape and about a third more than a mid-market Italian label. By design, it is a fashion brand rather than a heritage one: it has a recognisable silhouette, a recognisable sole, and a recognisable customer, and it moves with the season. By ownership, it is now part of Arezzo and Co, the largest footwear group in Brazil, which bought the majority of the company in 2023 and left the founder in charge of the collections. Brands like Paris Texas places it against By Far, Mach and Mach, The Attico and Dries Van Noten.
The Beyonce boots, and what they did
The image that moved the brand from fashion-insider to household was the cover of Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album in 2024, on which she wears a pair of white Paris Texas Paloma cowboy boots, a mid-calf Texan on a 75 mm stiletto. She followed it with custom crystal-fringed Paris Texas boots on the tour. That single placement did more for the label than any campaign, and it is the reason the Texan boot now sells alongside the mule as a signature. Before that, the label’s celebrity list already included Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Emily Ratajkowski and Kylie Jenner, per Harper’s Bazaar, and it had made a capsule with the photographer Nadia Lee Cohen and a bridal collection with Browns.
So, is it luxury?
If luxury means a house with a hundred years, a couture atelier and a five-figure handbag, then no, and the brand has never claimed it. If it means a shoe made in Italy on a leather sole by a factory the label has used for a decade, sold at a price that reflects the make rather than the name, then yes. The honest description is designer footwear, made in Italy, priced for a woman who buys a few pairs a season rather than one. The pieces that hold their value are the plain-material versions of the two signature shapes, the Lidia and the Dallas, which the house has kept in the range since it started.
“The business of luxury shoes is made in Italy. That’s the reality and that will always be the case,” Alexandre Birman, chief executive of Arezzo and Co, told WWD on 3 March 2023, explaining why the Brazilian group’s first acquisition outside Brazil was a Monza shoemaker.
