The Paris Texas Glossary: 27 House Terms Explained, From Texan Boot and Lidia to Texas Rose and Embossed Croco

Paris Texas describes its shoes in a vocabulary of its own: Texan boots and Lidias, covered Western heels and flared heels, embossed croco and printed python, Texas Rose soles and shafts measured for a size 37. The words come from the brand’s product pages, where each one appears in the description line, the composition line and the fit line, and this glossary defines them as the house uses them, with the style each belongs to. It is the page to read before every style explained and the materials guide, and the page to send a friend who has asked what a sabot is.

Key facts

  • 27 terms, each taken from the brand’s own product-page wording (350 pages saved on 16 September 2026) and defined with the style it belongs to.
  • The house sells 22 named models at Luxury Shoes ; the Lidia alone accounts for 119 of the 316 styles.
  • Every heel is described by height in millimetres and by shape: covered stiletto, Western block, chunky block, low block, flared, cone, cigar, platform and wedge.
  • The composition line names the leather finish exactly: “embossed croco” and “printed python” are patterned calf, never exotic skin.
  • Sizing is Italian EU with half sizes, “European sizes” on the page; Luxury Handbags lists the whole sizes 35 to 42.

Glossary

Texan boot

The house name for its cowboy boot: a pointed toe, Western stitching on the shaft, a covered block heel and a leather sole, made as the Dallas ankle boot, the Dakota mid-calf, the El Dorado knee-high and the embroidered Tucson. The brand writes “Texan-inspired stitching” on the product page.

Lidia

The pointed-toe stiletto last the house is built on, sold as a mule, slingback, pump, sabot, sandal, thong and ankle boot at 105 and 70 mm; 119 styles at Luxury Shoes , the black patent mule the best known.

Paloma

The mid-calf Texan boot on a 75 mm stiletto heel, with Western-style panelling, that Beyonce wore in white on the Cowboy Carter cover in March 2024. Not a current style; the Nadia Texan boot is the nearest in the range.

Texas Rose

The house pink: the colour of the lacquered leather sole on most of the range, and also a dusty pink shade name for uppers. The product page names the sole as “leather sole in Texas Rose”.

Covered heel

A heel wrapped in the same leather as the upper rather than left as stacked wood. Almost every Paris Texas heel is covered, which is what makes a 100 mm Texan block read as part of the boot.

Western heel

The brand’s phrase for the covered block heel on the Texan boots and the Jane, at 60 and 100 mm.

Flared heel

A heel that widens toward the floor; the brand puts the word in quotation marks on the Rose pages and uses it for the Nadia mule too.

Cone heel

A heel that tapers from a wide top to a narrow tip, on the Elsa and Belle ankle boots at 75 and 100 mm.

Cigar heel

A slim, straight, rounded heel, the brand’s newer shape, on the Alice 85 ankle boot.

Shaft height

The height of a boot from the sole to the top of the leg, stated by the brand in centimetres for a size 37 IT-EU; knee-high shafts run 37 to 45 cm.

Shaft circumference

The distance around the top of a boot shaft, stated for a size 37; 35.5 to 42 cm on the knee boots, and the number to check against your calf.

Embossed croco

The composition line for the crocodile pattern pressed into calf leather on the Stiletto boot and the Anja; not crocodile skin.

Printed python

A python pattern printed on calf leather, on the Lidia, the Vera and the Anja; not snakeskin. “Printed lizard” is the same idea.

Mirror leather

Calf with a reflective metallic finish, in gold and silver on the Lidia mule and the slingback, and a wine gradient on the Nina wedge.

Patent

Calf with a lacquered, glossy surface, the Lidia’s home material, 86 styles at Luxury Shoes .

Nappa

A soft, fine, smooth calf, used on the Stiletto boot and the Lidia; stretch nappa on some Stiletto boots gives the widest shaft in the range.

Velour

The brand’s word for a brushed calf suede on certain boots; Luxury Handbags lists it as suede.

Vintage-effect and brushed leather

Calf treated to look worn from new, on the Dakota, the Tucson and the Napa; marks are part of the finish.

Kidassia

Long-haired goat fur, on the Napa 20 furry boot in black, on a rubber sole; Mongolian fur is the curly lamb on the Stiletto 105 in white and black.

Sabot

A closed-toe mule with an open back, the Lidia shape between the mule and the pump.

Slingback

A pump held on by a strap around the heel; the Lidia slingback strap is elasticated at the back.

T Strap

A sandal with a strap running from the toe up the instep to the ankle strap, on the Lidia T Strap sandal; the house writes it without a hyphen.

Cut-out

An upper with a shaped opening, the signature of the Nadia mule, which pairs it with a flared heel.

Embellished Toe

The engraved metal toe cap on some Dallas and El Dorado boots; the brand writes “metal toe cap” on the product page.

European sizes

The brand’s sizing: Italian EU sizes 35 to 42 with half sizes, stated on every page with “Fits true to size”. Luxury Handbags lists the whole sizes.

House colour names

Ebano, Cioccolato, Fondente, Sigaro, Mocha and Cuoio are the browns; Carbone is charcoal black; Rouge Noir and Amarena the dark reds; Angora a pale greige; Tundra an olive khaki; Celadon a pale green; Desert Rose a burnt terracotta; Texas Rose a dusty pink.

Marca da bollo

A zero-price line in the brand’s own catalogue for Italian stamp duty on invoices; it is not a shoe and Luxury Handbags does not list it.

How to use the terms when you shop

A product name at Luxury Handbags reads model, heel, shape, shade and material: Lidia 105 Mules in Black Patent Leather is the Lidia last, a 105 mm heel, the mule shape, the shade black and the patent finish. The product page then carries the brand’s own lines: the description, “Fits true to size”, the shaft height and circumference on a boot, the heel in millimetres, the colour name, the composition, the style code and “Made in Italy”. The size guide explains the sizing line, the heel height guide the heel line, and the shaft guide the boot measurements.
