Gold Edition and Silver Edition are the same Ateliers Auguste bag with different metal: the engraved plaque, the clasp and the four feet in a warm gold finish, in a cool silver finish. Gold is the house default and 71 of the 73 bags at Luxury Handbags carry it; silver is the exception, 2 bags, on the Black pebble-leather Sévigné and Passy East West. The shape, the leather, the lining and the price are identical, so the choice is about the metal you already wear.

What the hardware is
Every structured Ateliers Auguste bag has one piece of metal on the front, a rectangular plaque engraved with the house name that doubles as the clasp, and four metal feet under the base. On the totes and the Passy the plaque is a snap closure and the feet protect a bag that will be set down on floors; on the shoulder bags the plaque hides a magnetic clasp. The brand does not publish the plating specification, so Luxury Handbags does not claim one; both finishes have held up on the June 2026 bags we have handled.
Gold Edition
Gold is the default and the finish the house photographs its range in. It warms the Tan, Chocolate and Taupe leathers and reads classic on Black and Off White. The Mini Monceau, Mini Marly, Monceau Baguette, Roquette and every other model at Luxury Handbags come in it.
Silver Edition
Silver sits cooler and quieter, and on Black pebble leather it disappears into the bag, which is the point: the Sévigné Silver Edition and the Passy East West Silver Edition are the work bags for someone whose watch and rings are steel. Both are the 2026 launch and both are at Luxury Handbags at the same price as their gold twins.
How to choose
Match the metal to the jewellery you wear daily; the bag is on your body more than any earring. Choose gold for Tan, Chocolate, Taupe and Off White, where it is the only option and the warmer match anyway. Choose silver on Black if your other hardware is silver, and gold on Black if it is not. If you split your jewellery, gold is the safer default because it is on every model and every shade. The colours page pairs each shade with the metal.

Is the Silver Edition more expensive?
No. Within a model the Silver Edition is the same price as the Gold Edition at Luxury Handbags and at the brand.
Does the gold hardware tarnish?
The brand does not publish the plating and excludes the natural ageing of metal parts from its one-year warranty. Keep the plaque away from perfume and cosmetics and wipe it with a dry cloth, as the brand’s care page advises.
