The Fenty commission
Fenty, the fashion house Rihanna launched with LVMH in 2019, needed shoes, and Rihanna asked Muaddi to design them. The commission came at the end of 2019 and the first drop launched in July 2020. The shoes carried both names, Fenty x Amina Muaddi, and put the flared heel and the crystal strap in front of an audience that had never opened a fashion magazine. Fenty’s ready-to-wear was paused in 2021, but the shoes are the collaboration people still search for.
The AWGE capsule
In December 2020 the house released a capsule with AWGE, the creative agency of A$AP Rocky, which took the Gilda and the signature heel into a harder register. It is the second collaboration people search for by name, and the second reason the label reads as a music-world house as much as a fashion one.

Who Amina Muaddi is
A designer born in Romania to a Jordanian father and a Romanian mother, trained at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and with the artisans of the Riviera del Brenta, who co-founded Oscar Tiye in 2013 and launched her own label in Paris in August 2018. Footwear News named it Launch of the Year that year and Muaddi Designer of the Year in 2019, and in February 2023 she received the Neiman Marcus Award for Innovation in Fashion.
