Born in Romania
Amina Muaddi is born in Romania to a Jordanian father and a Romanian mother. The family moves to Amman shortly after her birth, and she returns to Romania with her mother at six after her parents separate. She has said she had decided on fashion by nine.
Milan and the magazines
She trains at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, then works as an assistant stylist for Condé Nast titles, among them Vogue Italia, L’Uomo Vogue and GQ in New York, and learns footwear with the artisans of the Riviera del Brenta. In Paris she works on the footwear line of the couturier Alexandre Vauthier.
2013: Oscar Tiye
She co-founds the footwear label Oscar Tiye, which shows at Milan Fashion Week the same year.
2017: leaves Oscar Tiye
She leaves the label to start her own.
August 2018: the launch
The Amina Muaddi label launches from Paris with the flared signature heel, the Begum slingback and the slippers that become the Gilda and Lupita.
December 2018: Launch of the Year
Footwear News names the label Launch of the Year at its Achievement Awards.
2019: Designer of the Year
Footwear News names Muaddi Designer of the Year. At the end of the year Rihanna commissions her to design the footwear for Fenty.
July 2020: Fenty x Amina Muaddi
The first Fenty x Amina Muaddi drop launches, taking the flared heel to an audience far beyond fashion.
December 2020: AWGE
A capsule with AWGE, the creative agency of A$AP Rocky. The same year she sits on the jury of the Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize.
February 2023: Neiman Marcus Award

2026: the range today
The house sells shoes, bags and jewellery from its own site and through Net-a-Porter, Mytheresa, Farfetch, SSENSE, Harrods, Selfridges and Bergdorf Goodman. Luxury Handbags carries 160 shoes and 22 bags, authenticated, on the same lasts the label launched with.
What did not change
The lasts. The Begum, the Lupita and the Gilda of 2026 are the shapes of 2018 in new satins, and the signature heel has not moved from 95 mm and 70 mm.
