ME+EM Trousers and Jeans: Every Shape Explained
ME+EM trousers come in five main shapes: the wide, pleated Icon Trouser, the straight Man Pant, the curved barrel leg, the tapered leg and the very wide leg. The jeans follow the same shapes in denim, led by the Engineered Barrel Jean and the kick-flare Leg Elongator. On Luxury Shoes , the trousers cost $250 to $1,510 and the jeans $430 to $530, and all of them are listed as true to size.
ME+EM cuts its trousers to fall from the seat rather than hug it, which is why women who own one pair tend to buy a second. There are 49 trousers and jeans in the Autumn Winter 2026 edit on Luxury Shoes . This guide explains each shape, the cloths it comes in and how the sizing works, so you can choose without trying on five pairs.

The ME+EM Icon Trouser
The Icon Trouser is a full-length, wide-leg trouser with pleats at the front, and it is the one most associated with the label. This season it comes in three versions: the Icon Trouser in Grey Multi ($620) with double pleats, the Icon Trouser in Warm Chocolate Brown ($620) with a relaxed fit, and the Icon Trouser in Pecan Brown Multi ($570) with a hook-and-bar fastening. Each matches a blazer in the same cloth: the Warm Chocolate Brown pairs with the Sharp Shoulder Short Blazer, and the Grey Multi with the Sharp Shoulder Short Blazer in Grey Multi.
The ME+EM Man Pant
The Man Pant is a straight, full-length trouser modelled on menswear tailoring. The Straight Man Pant in Grey Multi ($570) is pure wool with a mid rise and a tailored fit, cut from the same cloth as the Sharp Shoulder Blazer in Grey Multi. The Heritage Man Pant in Brown Multi ($470) has a high rise and a straight leg in a check cloth. Wear either with a loafer and a shirt; the straight leg is the most office-friendly shape in the range.
ME+EM barrel trousers
The barrel leg curves out through the thigh and knee and back in at the ankle. ME+EM makes it in four cloths:
- Cotton: the Engineered Barrel Trouser in Bronzed Brown ($470), also in Black Wash.
- Pleated cotton: the Pleat Barrel Trouser in Bronzed Olive ($570), with single pleats.
- Check: the Heritage Barrel Trouser in Pecan Brown Multi ($570), with a side panel insert.
- Leather: the Luxe Barrel Trouser in Black/Brown ($1,320), lamb leather made in Mauritius, also in Merlot Red.
Barrel trousers look best with a flat shoe and a short jacket that stops at the hip.
ME+EM tapered and very wide trousers
Tapered
The Exaggerated Taper Trouser ($570) is full at the hip and narrow at the ankle, in a wool blend, in Black and Charcoal Mélange. The Gathered Waist Taper Trouser ($570) adds gathers at the waist, and the Tapered Tux Trouser ($570) has a high rise and a centre-front pleat for evening.
Very wide
The Very Wide-Leg Trouser in Charcoal Grey ($620) has centre-front inverted pleats. The Very Wide-Leg Trouser in Scarlet Red ($570) is the colour statement, the Pleat Wide-Leg Trouser in Port Brown ($570) has a concealed side zip, and the Very Wide Culotte ($570) cuts the same leg off above the ankle. The Heritage Very Wide Trouser ($570) matches the Heritage check jackets.
ME+EM leather trousers
All the leather trousers in the edit are lamb leather made in Mauritius. Beside the Luxe Barrel, there is the Luxe Leg Elongator Trouser ($1,510) with a kick flare, the Skinny Boot Trouser ($1,220) and the Clever Trouser in Chocolate ($1,320). They are the most expensive trousers ME+EM makes and the ones that change least from season to season.

How do ME+EM trousers fit?
ME+EM trousers run true to size in UK 4 to 18; a UK 8 is a US 4 and an EU 36. The brand cuts them slightly generous through the seat, so choose by your hip measurement. Jeans use inch waist sizes: a UK 8 is a 25 to 26, a UK 10 a 27 to 28 and a UK 12 a 28 to 29. In rigid cotton denim, take the larger of the two. Models on the product pages are between 173cm and 180cm and wear a UK 8, which helps you judge the length against your own height. Full tables are in the ME+EM size guide.
What to wear with ME+EM trousers
For work, put the Icon Trouser with a cropped jacket so the pleats show; our ME+EM coats, jackets and blazers guide lists the matching cloths. On the feet, the Square Toe Loafer ($710) suits the Man Pant and the barrel leg, and the Platform Ankle Boot in Caramel ($950), with an 8cm heel, gives the very wide trousers the height they need. On top, a fine merino knit tucked at the front keeps the waist visible; see the ME+EM knitwear guide.
The full range is in designer trousers on Luxury Shoes and on the ME+EM brand page.
