ME+EM Size Guide: UK, US, EU, Shoes, Belts and Rings

ME+EM clothing runs true to size in UK sizes 4 to 18, where a UK 8 is a US 4 and an EU 36. Knitwear is sold in letter sizes (a UK 8 to 10 is a Small), jeans in inch waist sizes from 23 to 32, and shoes in EU 36 to 42, which is UK 3 to 9. Belts come in XS to XL and rings in Small, Medium and Large.

These are ME+EM’s own conversions and body measurements in centimetres. Match your bust and hip first; if they fall in different sizes, choose by the hip for trousers and skirts, by the bust for tops and fitted dresses.

Australian sizes match UK sizes, so an AU 10 is a UK 10. For German, Austrian, Swiss and Swedish sizing, subtract four from the French size: a UK 10 is an EU 38 in France and a 36 in Germany.

Does ME+EM run small?

No. ME+EM says it designs its clothes to be slightly more generous so that nothing clings too tightly, and it cuts its trousers to fall from the seat rather than hug it. In practice, take your usual UK size. The exceptions are about shape, not size:

• Slim and shrunken knits such as the Barely There Top and the Baby Tee are meant to sit close. If you prefer them looser, go up one letter size.
• Oversized tailoring such as the Icon Oversized Tux Blazer and the Tailored Oversized Coat already has volume built in, so stay in your usual size.
• Fit + Flare dresses fit at the bodice and waist, so choose by your bust and waist.

Because each letter covers two UK sizes, the cut of the knit matters more than the label. A relaxed cashmere jumper such as the High Neck Relaxed Jumper is forgiving across both sizes. Where two inch sizes share a UK size, our advice is that rigid cotton jeans such as the Engineered Barrel Jean suit the larger of the two, since 100% cotton denim has no stretch. The Slim Crop Jean carries 2% elastane, so your usual size is fine.

Petite and coat sizing
