ME+EM and the Princess of Wales: Every Verified Look

0

Yes, the Princess of Wales wears ME+EM. Her best documented ME+EM pieces are a pink silk shirt dress, worn to meet five-year-old Mila Sneddon at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in May 2021 and again at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May 2023, and a deep ruby red silk sleeveless top and scarf, worn in January 2026 and again in Wales in February 2026.

Royal fashion coverage tends to credit ME+EM with far more appearances than can be checked. This piece sticks to the looks that were identified at the time by several outlets and by the long-running royal style record What Kate Wore. Where a date, place and garment cannot all be confirmed, we have left the look out.

Which ME+EM pieces has the Princess of Wales worn?

Date Occasion ME+EM piece
27 May 2021 Meeting Mila Sneddon, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh Colour block silk shirt dress in pink
22 May 2023 Children’s Picnic, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, London The same pink silk shirt dress, worn again
January 2026 Engagement at Charing Cross Hospital, London AM/PM sleeveless top and scarf in deep ruby red silk
February 2026 Engagements in Wales The same ruby red top and scarf, worn again

The pink shirt dress: Holyroodhouse, May 2021

The best known ME+EM moment came during a week of royal engagements in Scotland in 2021. Five-year-old Mila Sneddon had been photographed kissing her father through a window while she was shielding during treatment for leukaemia, and the picture was chosen for the Duchess’s Hold Still photography project. When the two spoke by phone, Catherine promised to find a pink dress for the day they met, since pink was Mila’s favourite colour.

On 27 May 2021 she kept that promise at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in a pink ME+EM silk shirt dress. The dress had a point collar, a pleated front panel, a self-belt and a dipped hem, longer at the back. It is one of the few royal outfits remembered for the story more than the clothes.

The same dress at Chelsea, May 2023

Two years later, on 22 May 2023, the Princess of Wales wore the same pink ME+EM dress to host the first Children’s Picnic at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, an event linked to the RHS Campaign for School Gardening. She paired it with drop earrings and espadrille wedges. A silk shirt dress that still looks right two summers later has earned its price.

The ruby red top and scarf, 2026

In January 2026 the Princess wore an ME+EM AM/PM sleeveless top and scarf, cut from silk in a shade the brand called deep ruby red, to an engagement at Charing Cross Hospital in London. She wore it again in February 2026 on engagements in Wales. The scarf ties at the neck, which gives the top the look of a pussy bow blouse without the fuss.

The AM/PM idea is still in ME+EM’s range. The Autumn Winter 2026 edit on Luxury Handbags includes the AM-PM Straight Blouse in Black Multi, a recycled polyester blouse at $470 that works under a blazer by day and alone at night.

ME+EM and the Royal Warrant

In 2026, ME+EM was granted a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty Queen Camilla. A warrant recognises a supplier to the royal household, so it is a different thing from a single outfit being photographed. In June 2026, ME+EM founder Clare Hornby was also made an OBE for services to the fashion industry. More on the company is in Who Is ME+EM?

Why does the Princess of Wales wear ME+EM?

The Princess has not spoken about her clothes, so any answer is an observation rather than a quote. Her daytime wardrobe leans on British labels, on clean lines and on pieces that can be worn again, and ME+EM fits all three. Its silk blouses and shirt dresses are modest in cut, they photograph well in colour, and they are priced well below the couture she wears for state occasions.

How to wear ME+EM like the Princess of Wales

You will not find the 2021 shirt dress in the current collection, but the ideas behind both looks carry straight into the Autumn Winter 2026 pieces.

One strong colour, head to toe

Both of her ME+EM looks are a single, saturated colour. For winter, ME+EM’s version is Barolo Red. Pair the High Neck Straight Jumper in Barolo Red ($430) with the Balloon Sleeve Maxi Dress in Barolo Red ($660) layered underneath, and the colour reads as a deliberate choice rather than a matching set.

A shirt dress with a belt

The pink dress worked because the belt gave it a waist and the collar framed the face. The closest shape this season is the Fit + Flare Midi Dress in Merlot ($620), which has a zip neckline and an elasticated back panel, and the Fit + Flare Blazer Dress ($530) for something more tailored. Add the Square Buckle Belt in Merlot ($340) if you want a defined waist.

A silk top for day and evening

For the ruby red look, start with the Crop Evening Top in Barolo Red ($390) under a Sharp Contour Blazer ($760), and finish with the Drop Earrings in Gold Toned ($570), made in Italy from brass plated in 24 karat gold.
