Polène Bag Sizes: Micro, Nano, Mini and Large Compared

0

Polène bags run from tiny micro and nano pieces that hold a phone and a cardholder, through mini and standard sizes for a full day’s kit, up to large shoulder bags and totes that take a laptop sleeve and a jumper. The quickest way to choose is weight and strap: the Numéro Un Nano weighs 440 g against 925 g for the full Numéro Un, and the lightest bag in this guide, the Cyme Tote Nano, is just 296 g.

Polène is the Paris house founded in 2016 by Antoine, Mathieu and Elsa Mothay, and its bags are made in Ubrique, Spain. Most of its models come in more than one scale, which is why size is the question we are asked most often after colour; the shade guide is in our Polène bags by colour edit, and the small pieces are gathered in our Polène mini bags guide.

Polène bag sizes at a glance

These are the measurements Polène publishes for each model, in centimetres, with the weight and strap lengths listed on the brand’s own product pages. Where a size exists but no figure is published, we leave it out rather than guess.

Micro and nano: the smallest Polène bags

The micro and nano sizes are for the essentials only. The Numéro Un Micro in Black Bag is the smallest version of the house’s first design, best treated as a jewel of a bag for the bare minimum. The Numéro Un Nano in Camel Bag is the more practical small size: at 20.5 x 17 x 9 cm it takes a phone, a cardholder, keys and a pair of sunglasses, and its 132 cm adjustable strap lets it sit comfortably across the body.

The Numéro Dix Micro in Cognac Bag does the same job for the saddle shape. In the tote family, the Cyme Tote Nano in Taupe Bag is the lightest bag here at 296 g, with a short 9.6 cm handle for the hand and a shoulder strap for longer days. For card cases and pouches that fit inside these small bags, see our guide to Polène wallets and card holders.

Mini Polène bags: the everyday middle

Mini is the size most people end up carrying daily. The Numéro Un Mini in Sand Bag sits between the nano and the full size, and the Numéro Neuf Mini in Black Bag is the smaller take on the Numéro Neuf, a curved shoulder bag that sits neatly under the arm. Both take a phone, a slim wallet, keys, sunglasses and a small umbrella.

The Cyme Mini in Black Bag is the size that made the Cyme so widely searched: big enough for a day out and still light enough for the elbow. The Mokki Mini in Black Bag is a compact take on the Mokki, with the same folded flap. Polène does not publish mini dimensions for every model, so check each product page before you buy; our Cyme guide compares the family in more detail.

Standard sizes and what fits inside

The Numéro Dix in Taupe Bag is the best balance of size and weight in the range: 24 x 20 x 7.5 cm, 386 g, with a long 138 cm strap for crossbody wear and a 106 cm strap for the waist and a baguette carry. It holds a phone, a full wallet, keys, sunglasses and a small pouch. Our Numéro Dix guide covers both straps.

The Nodde in Cognac Bag at 21 x 16.5 x 7 cm is similar in capacity but zipped, with a strap from 30 to 62 cm. The Numéro Neuf in Camel Bag is the full shoulder size of the Neuf; our Numéro Neuf guide compares it with the Mini and Large. The Boky in Textured Camel Bag is built from three assembled pouches, two zipped and one magnetic, which is useful if you like to sort your things.

The original Numéro Un in Black Bag is the heaviest of the standard shapes at 925 g. It has a back pocket and three interior pockets, one zipped, and its 120 cm strap is a little shorter than the Nano’s, so it rides higher across the body.

Large Polène bags, east-west shapes and Cyme Large

For a work bag, look at the larger shoulder styles and totes. The Numéro Neuf East West in Taupe Bag is a zipped east-west shoulder bag at 540 g, light for its size. The Numéro Neuf Large in Stone Bag is the biggest version of the Neuf. The Cyme Tote in Ebony Bag is the tote version of the shape, and the Cyme in Camel Bag at 32 x 38 x 17 cm, 900 g, with two handle sizes (40 cm and 60 cm) and a removable interior pocket, carries an A4 notebook, a water bottle and a cardigan.

People often search for a Cyme Large. There is no bag by that name in the Polène edit we carry; the larger options in the family are the Cyme and the Cyme Tote. For more room still, the Mokki in Black Bag has two compartments at 860 g, the Nodde Hobo in Black Bag has a long 52 to 105 cm strap, and the Shuldo in Black Bag is a large slouchy hobo at 980 g. Two long, slim shapes round out the range: the Neyu in Black Bag at 40 x 15 x 8 cm and just 350 g, and the Béri Lif in Ebony Bag at 52 x 24 cm. The full list is in our Polène tote bags guide and the Polène work bag edit.

Height, proportion and strap drop

Scale matters more than numbers suggest. On a petite frame, a nano crossbody and a mini shoulder bag keep proportions neat, and the Numéro Un Nano’s 132 cm strap can be shortened so the bag sits at the waist. Taller women can carry the Cyme and the Shuldo without the bag swamping them.

For crossbody wear, a long strap like the Numéro Dix’s 138 cm drops the bag to the hip, while the Osmo in Taupe Bag can be worn short, baguette style, tucked under the arm. If you mostly wear a bag across the body, our Polène crossbody bags guide lists every strap option, and the wider choice of shapes sits in women’s bags.

Polène sizes around the world

United States

Car commutes suit larger totes like the Cyme, while New Yorkers on foot often choose a Numéro Dix across the body. The brand lists boutiques on Broadway and in SoHo, and has leased a space on Oak Street in Chicago.

United Kingdom

For the Tube and rainy walks, a zipped crossbody such as the Nodde keeps things dry and secure. The brand lists a London boutique where you can try sizes in person.

France

Paris favours small shapes: a nano by day and a micro in the evening. The brand lists boutiques on Rue de Richelieu and the Champs-Élysées.

Germany and Europe

Cyclists in Hamburg and Copenhagen do best with a crossbody that sits close to the body. The brand lists boutiques on Neuer Wall in Hamburg, on Via Manzoni in Milan and in Copenhagen.

Japan

Compact sizes suit busy trains in Tokyo, and the nano and mini sizes are the natural choice. The brand opened its first Asian store in Minami-Aoyama in 2023.

Australia and Canada

Beach days and long summers in Australia suit a light tote like the Cyme Tote Nano. Canadian winters mean bulky coats, so a long strap matters; the Nodde Hobo’s 105 cm maximum length clears a parka.
