Mackage Dixon vs Edward vs Moritz: Which Men’s Parka?

The Dixon, the Edward and the Moritz are the three Mackage men’s coats that come up most often. They share a regular to relaxed fit and serious warmth, but they are built for different lives: the Dixon is a bomber, the Edward a full parka and the Moritz a twill city parka. Shop them in the Mackage collection and our men’s coats.

Quick answer

  • Dixon: a down bomber with a removable hooded bib, rated to minus 25C.
  • Edward: the warmest Mackage coat, a 2-in-1 parka rated to minus 35C.
  • Moritz: a twill parka rated to minus 25C, with a relaxed fit.

The Dixon

The Dixon is a hip-length down bomber in Mackage’s Nordic Tech fabric, with a removable hooded bib in lustrous down. Take the bib out and it is a clean bomber for milder days; put it back and it is rated to minus 25C. The Dixon-X has a silver fox trim on the hood.

The Edward

The Edward is the warmest coat Mackage makes, rated to minus 35C with 800 fill power down. It is a longer 2-in-1 parka, also with a removable hooded bib, and covers the hips for real cold. The Edward-X has a silver fox trim.

The Moritz

The Moritz is a twill parka rather than a quilted puffer, which makes it the most understated of the three. It is cut relaxed, to wear over heavier layers, and rated to minus 25C. The Moritz-X has a removable silver fox fur trim around the hood.

Which one should you buy?

For a daily city coat that also handles a weekend away, the Dixon is the most versatile. For long, hard winters, the Edward is the one. Choose the Moritz if you want a parka that reads more like a classic field coat than a puffer. If you prefer a coat without a hood, see the Sutton 3-in-1 wool coat in our guide to Mackage wool coats.

Sizing and fur

Mackage men’s coats use numeric sizes, mostly 36 to 50, and the regular and relaxed fits here are cut for a sweater underneath, so take your usual size. The -X versions carry silver fox trims; the composition of every trim is listed on the product page. More in the Mackage size guide.
