Where Is Fusalp Made? Designed in France, Tested in Annecy
Fusalp products are designed in France and tested in the brand’s laboratory in Annecy, then made by partner workshops abroad. Fusalp’s own traceability pages name China, Vietnam, Portugal, Romania and Tunisia as the main countries for women’s clothing and accessories. Only Fusalp socks are made in France. Luxury Handbags lists the country of manufacture on each Fusalp product in our skiwear edit.
Where is Fusalp made?
Fusalp’s own wording is precise: its products are designed in France by its expert teams, and it selects its partner workshops “with the greatest rigor”. Design happens in France, and quality control is run by the Annecy lab, in-house and at partner factories. Manufacture happens abroad, and the traceability data shows production grouped by type of product.
So the honest short answer is “designed in France, tested in Annecy, made in partner factories”. Anyone telling you a Fusalp ski jacket is made in France is wrong. For the brand’s background, see our Fusalp history from Annecy, 1952, and for what the testing means in practice, our Fusalp review.
Is Fusalp made in France?
No, apart from socks. On Fusalp’s traceability pages, France appears only for its socks, such as the Piste Pro, Sock Pop and Sock Mount. Luxury Handbags does not stock Fusalp socks, so none of the Fusalp pieces we sell are made in France. Fusalp is a French brand, headquartered in Annecy, with French design and French testing. Its ski jackets, suits, pants, knits and gloves are manufactured abroad.
Fusalp country of manufacture, product by product
This table lists the Fusalp styles at Luxury Handbags with at least one colourway whose country of manufacture is confirmed, grouped by country. It follows Fusalp’s own traceability data.

Colourways of the same style are sometimes made in different places, and some product pages carry no manufacturing row. Where we cannot confirm a country, our product page says “designed in France, tested in Annecy” and stops there.
What the pattern tells you
The map follows specialism. Technical shells and ski suits, such as the Delphine Ski Jacket in Black and the Clarisse Ski Suit in Navy and Black, are made in China. Down jackets and gloves cluster in Vietnam: the Barsy Down Jacket in Black and the Peak Gloves in Black are both made there.
Knitwear is European. The Andromede Sweater in Black and Snow and the Cosmic Beanie in Navy are made in Portugal. The fuseau, the brand’s founding product, is made in Romania: the Elancia Ski Pants in Black carry that label, alongside the Gemini Thermal Layer in Black. Close-fitting thermal tops such as the Stellia Thermal Layer in Black come from Tunisia.
Where are the fabrics made?
Fusalp’s traceability pages go a step further than the label. They list where the main material was dyed and printed, and where it was knitted and woven, as well as where the garment was made up. The BARSY II page, for example, shows the jacket made in Vietnam, with its main fabric dyed and woven in China. The same page shows 0% recycled content. That level of disclosure is unusual for a luxury ski label, and it is the most useful thing to check before you buy.
What does “tested in Annecy” mean?
Since 2018, Fusalp’s Quality and R&D laboratory has been based in Annecy. It runs more than 8,000 tests every year, both in-house and at partner factories. The lab checks fabrics and finished pieces, and it is where the Fusalp-approved membrane is tested for waterproofing, wind resistance and breathability. The brand’s 5-point warmth rating is explained in our Fusalp warmth levels guide.
Certifications behind the materials
- Down: certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) by Ecocert Greenlife, licence number 257959.
- Wool: certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) under the same licence.
- Certified materials: Fusalp states that 72% of the materials across its collections are certified.
- Packaging: described by the brand as 100% recyclable.
- Industry commitments: Fusalp is a signatory of the Fashion Pact.
The country of manufacture is a fact, not a quality grade. A level 5 down jacket from a specialist Vietnamese factory, tested in Annecy, is the same jacket whatever the label says. What matters is that Fusalp tells you. Before you choose a size, check the Fusalp size guide.
