How to shop Fusalp at Luxury Shoes
Start with the warmth rating. Fusalp grades its outerwear on its own scale of 1 to 5, and only level 5 carries a temperature: protection down to minus 30 degrees Celsius. The Barsy down jacket, the Misha coat and the long Renisem and Skamanaa down coats sit at level 5. Most ski suits and ski jackets, including the Clarisse and Kira suits and the Delphine and Katarina jackets, are level 4, which suits a typical Alpine season. Levels 2 and 3 are lighter shells and layering pieces for spring skiing and for town.
For the slope, build from the bottom up. A Fusalp base layer such as the Gemini, Orion and Troop thermal layers goes under a mid layer like the Lirvane jacket, then a ski jacket and fuseau pants. Our guides to the Fusalp ski jacket, the Fusalp ski suit and the Fusalp fuseau ski pants go style by style.
For town, the down jackets and coats carry the same membranes and down without the ski details. The belted Kerin and Melisan jackets and the long Iwaga coat are the ones to look at first.
Fusalp size guide
Fusalp cuts its outerwear, ski suits and ski pants in French sizes, and Luxury Handbags lists them in UK sizes. Base layers, mid layers and knitwear run in letter sizes. Gloves and mittens come in glove sizes from 6.5 to 10.
| Fusalp (FR) | UK | US | IT | Letter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 34 | 6 | 2 | 38 | XS |
| 36 | 8 | 4 | 40 | XS to S |
| 38 | 10 | 6 | 42 | S |
| 40 | 12 | 8 | 44 | M |
| 42 | 14 | 10 | 46 | M to L |
| 44 | 16 | 12 | 48 | L |
Most Fusalp pieces fit true to size. A few down jackets, the Barsy among them, are cut oversized on purpose, and Fusalp suggests a size down for a more regular fit. The full conversion and fit notes are in our Fusalp size guide.
Editor’s note
Fusalp is the ski label I would point to for skiing itself. The suits are cut close, the fuseau pants hold their shape, and the house tests its membranes in its own lab. It also has a real racing past, which most luxury ski brands cannot claim. For a fuller picture, read our history of Fusalp, our Fusalp review and the best luxury ski brands. Fusalp FAQ
Where is Fusalp from?
Fusalp is from Annecy, in the French Alps. Georges Ribola and Rene Veyrat founded it there in 1952, and the house still has its quality and research laboratory in Annecy.
Is Fusalp a luxury brand?
Yes. Fusalp is a French luxury skiwear house with its own boutiques in the Alps and in Paris, London, New York and Aspen, priced alongside Moncler Grenoble, Bogner and Perfect Moment.
Where is Fusalp made?
Fusalp designs its collections in France and tests them in Annecy, then works with partner workshops. Its traceability pages name the factory country for each piece, mostly China, Portugal, Vietnam, Romania and Tunisia, and Luxury Handbags shows that country on every product page.
Is Fusalp waterproof?
Fusalp ski jackets, ski suits and many down jackets use a Fusalp approved membrane that the house describes as waterproof, windproof and breathable. Knitwear and base layers are not waterproof.
Who owns Fusalp?
