How Amiri womenswear started

Mike Amiri began by making stage pieces for rock musicians in Los Angeles. A capsule for the city’s Maxfield store launched the label, and Amiri was founded as a house in 2014. For most of its first decade it was known for menswear: distressed denim, leather and sneakers with a West Coast attitude.

Womenswear arrived in 2021. The real turning point came with Autumn Winter 2025, shown in January 2025 during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, when the women’s collection walked the Paris runway alongside menswear for the first time. The current women’s edit at Luxury Handbags covers seasons from Pre Spring 2025 through Pre Spring 2027. Footwear and bags make up the largest share, which matches how most women first meet the brand: through a sneaker, a Micro MA Bag, a pair of Venice sunglasses.

Ready-to-wear sits around those accessories. Expect leather jackets and skirts made in Turkey, merino and wool-cashmere knitwear made in Italy and Vietnam, jersey tees and tanks made in Portugal, Italy and the USA, and beaded eveningwear made in Italy. The house codes to recognise

Amiri pieces are easy to identify once you know the vocabulary. The MA icon is the interlocking monogram used as hardware on bags, heels and wallets. The MA Quad is the all-over monogram print, woven into canvas, debossed into leather and flocked onto tops.

The bandana print appears as tied paisley scarf accents on bag handles and as braided silk chain straps. The Bones motif traces back to Amiri’s first one-room atelier on Sunset Boulevard, and here it appears as patch appliques on a cropped down jacket. How Amiri women’s sizing works

Most Amiri women’s ready-to-wear is cut in letter sizes XXS to XL. Leather jackets, leather skirts, leather trousers, lace shirts and eveningwear are cut in Italian sizes IT 36 to 46, which is UK 4 to UK 14. Amiri publishes no sizing correction for these pieces, so take your usual size.

Women’s shoes come in whole EU sizes, usually EU 35 to 41, with two Coastline sneaker colourways running EU 35 to 40. The standard women’s conversion is EU 37 = UK 4 = US 7. Amiri spreads production across specialist makers. In this edit, bags and heels are made mostly in Italy, with some bags made in Vietnam. Sneakers are made mostly in Vietnam, with selected styles made in Italy, China and Hong Kong.
