The Italian workshops

The story starts in Otranto, a medieval town in southern Italy, where founders Maj-La Pizzelli and Jonas Clason found a tiny atelier still making sandals by hand. That discovery in 2011 became the brand. Today the bags and shoes are produced in Tuscany, in workshops where the teams rarely pass twenty people, so the maker who cuts the leather often sees the piece through to finishing.

The leather

ATP Atelier works mainly in vegetable-tanned calf, tanned with natural tannins rather than chrome. It is a slower method that gives the leather depth and lets it develop a patina with wear. You can see it on the structured Eraclea tote and the soft suede Liveri hobo, where the grain and the hand-finished edges do the talking instead of a logo.
