Mary Katrantzou was born in Athens in 1983 and read architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design before moving to Central Saint Martins in London, where she took a BA in textile design and an MA in fashion. She founded her label in 2008 straight out of the MA show. The house has been based in London ever since. Her work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and she has won the Swiss Textiles Award, the British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent, and the BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.
