MM6 Jeans: Fits, Washes and How They Size

MM6 jeans are where the line’s Margiela thinking is easiest to see: classic five-pocket denim reworked with twisted seams, inverted pockets, painted surfaces and printed lines that imitate construction. They come in wide-leg, straight-leg and barrel fits, mostly in Italian cotton denim. Luxury Handbags stocks 38 styles in our designer jeans, from the Twisted-Seam Wide-Leg Jeans in Dark Blue to the Painted Straight-Leg Jeans in Light Blue.

The fits

The Margiela details

Look closely and every pair has an idea in it. The twisted-seam jeans move the seams and pockets from where you expect them. The reduced-panel jeans leave the extra fabric stitched flat rather than cut away, showing how the pair was made. The painted jeans use the house’s archive paint technique, and the printed-line jeans use trompe l’oeil to draw seams that are not there. The white stitch line sits at the back waist.

How do MM6 jeans size?

Most MM6 jeans are sized by waist in inches, from 24 to 33, and Luxury Handbags lists exactly the waist sizes MM6 makes. Take your usual denim size. A few denim trousers use Italian sizing instead, shown in UK sizes; the size line on each page says which. MM6 cuts its tailoring and dresses in Italian sizes, which run four above UK, so an IT 42 is a UK 10. Jersey comes in letter sizes, jeans in waist inches and shoes in EU sizes. The full conversion is in our MM6 size guide.

How to wear MM6 jeans

Wide-leg jeans want a fitted top: a fine knit, a bodysuit like the Lycra Jersey Bodysuit in Black and ballet flats. Straight jeans work with a white shirt and loafers. In winter, a trench coat over wide jeans is the MM6 uniform. Wash the denim rarely, cold and inside out.

Beyond jeans

MM6 also makes denim jackets, skirts and shorts in the same washes, such as the Cropped Denim Jacket in Blue, and tailored trousers with a denim waistband. See trousers and our Autumn Winter 2026 edit.
