Carolina Herrera Wedding Dresses: Bridal History and White Edit
Carolina Herrera has designed wedding dresses since the 1980s: she made Caroline Kennedy’s wedding gown in 1986 and launched her first bridal collection in 1987. Luxury Handbags does not carry the Carolina Herrera Bridal line, but it does carry the house’s white and ivory ready-to-wear and evening pieces, plus a bridal tiara and veil, which suit civil ceremonies, rehearsal dinners, receptions and after-parties.
This guide covers the bridal history, the house signatures that carry into its white pieces, what to wear for each part of the wedding, and the etiquette for guests. The full range sits in our Carolina Herrera brand hub.
Does Carolina Herrera make wedding dresses?
Yes. The house has made wedding dresses since 1986, and its first bridal collection followed in 1987.
Carolina Herrera showed her first collection in New York in 1981, and the house is still based there. Five years later she designed the wedding gown for Caroline Kennedy, in 1986, and the bridal collection followed a year after that. She also dressed two First Ladies, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Michelle Obama, which tells you the register the house works in: formal, polished and built for occasions that are photographed. Wes Gordon has been creative director since 2018, and in 2026 the house celebrates its 45th anniversary. Read more about the founder and the house in our guide to who is Carolina Herrera.
Can you buy Carolina Herrera Bridal at Luxury Shoes ?
No. Luxury Handbags does not stock the Carolina Herrera Bridal line, so there are no bridal-line wedding gowns in our edit.
What we carry is the house’s ready-to-wear and evening collections, and a good number of those pieces come in white and ivory. For a bride planning a city-hall ceremony, a second look for the reception, a rehearsal dinner dress and an after-party mini, that white edit covers a lot of ground. It also includes one piece made for the aisle: the Embroidered Bow Tiara and Veil.
What are the Carolina Herrera bridal signatures?
The house signatures are eveningwear and gowns, the crisp white shirt, bold botanical prints, polka dots, bows and the Icon belt. In white, the bow, the shirt and the flower do most of the work.
- The bow. Bows run through the white pieces, from the fixed shoulder bows of the Column Gown with Bows in Ivory to the bow at the waist of the Rose Jacquard Mini Dress With Bow in White.
- The white shirt. The crisp white shirt was the founder’s personal uniform, often worn with a full skirt. It is the most Carolina Herrera answer to a bride who wants separates.
- The flower. The 2026 botanicals, hydrangea, calla lily and rose, appear in white as lace, jacquard and sculpted fabric, not as print.
- The structured fabric. Silk faille, crepe and jacquard give the white pieces a clean line that photographs well.

For a civil ceremony
A town-hall wedding calls for a dress with presence that does not need a train. The One-Shoulder Draped Gown in White ($8,110) is stretch crepe with a single draped shoulder and a back slit, inspired by classical Greece. The Column Gown with Bows in Ivory ($5,690), from the Icon Collection, is fluid crepe with short sleeves, a boat neckline, fixed shoulder bows and side pockets. If you would prefer a shorter hem, the Rose Jacquard Full Midi Dress in White ($6,620) has a scoop neck, a boned, corset-detail bodice and a full midi skirt; the belt is not included, so add one of your own. Our evening gowns edit holds the white gowns alongside the rest of the range.
For the rehearsal dinner
This is where the white shirt comes in. The Fitted Waist Shirt in White ($2,510) is stretch cotton with a deep V-neckline, a notched lapel collar, billowing sleeves and a pleated, fitted waist. Wear it with the Hydrangea Lace Midi Skirt in White ($5,690), in corded lace with raised hydrangea motifs and a scalloped hem, and you have the founder’s own formula of a white shirt with a full skirt. For a softer option, the High-Waisted Wide-Leg Alba Pants in White ($2,510) have gold-tone buttons at the waist. Find more in our tops and skirts edits.
For the reception
Change into something shorter once the formal part is over. The Pleated Mini Dress in White ($11,290) is white silk faille with a pleated bustier bodice and a voluminous mini skirt draped in the form of a rose. The Wrap Bodice Mini Dress With Watteau in Ivory ($5,690) is silk faille with a sweetheart neckline, thin straps and a voluminous Watteau back lined with tulle, which gives it the entrance of a gown at mini length.
For the after-party
Keep it light. The Rose Jacquard Mini Dress With Bow in White ($4,750) is shimmering rose jacquard with a triangular neckline, a bow at the waist and side pockets. The Shift Dress With Bows in Ivory ($2,890) is the simplest of the white pieces: fluid crepe, short sleeves, a boat neckline and shoulder bows. If the evening turns cool, the Puff Sleeve Jacket with Calla Lily Buttons in Ivory ($5,310), in bi-stretch wool, goes over either.
What about the Carolina Herrera tiara and veil?
The Embroidered Bow Tiara and Veil in White ($1,580) is a Carolina Herrera headpiece from the Pre-Fall 2025 collection. Pin it to a low chignon for the ceremony and take the veil off for the reception, so the tiara carries on through the evening.
It pairs naturally with the bow details on the Column Gown with Bows in Ivory. For jewellery, the Carolina Herrera x Olympia Babylonia Flower Power Earrings in White ($830) and the Enamel Flower Necklace in White ($1,390), with enamel petals around crystal centres, keep the flower theme going; browse more in our jewellery edit. A satin clutch from our clutch bags edit finishes the look, and our Carolina Herrera bags guide covers the house’s own satin and crystal clutches.
Can wedding guests wear Carolina Herrera white?
Not unless the couple asks for it. White and ivory belong to the bride, so as a guest, choose colour and print instead.
The house gives guests plenty to work with. Polka dots on cotton faille, the hydrangea chiffons and the rose-print midis all read as celebratory without competing with the bride. If the invitation asks for an all-white dress code, the pieces above work for guests too; otherwise leave them for the bridal party. Our guide to Carolina Herrera dresses and gowns matches printed and coloured pieces to black tie, cocktail and daytime weddings.
How do the white pieces fit?
Most Carolina Herrera product pages give no sizing note, and several say “Fits true to size”, so take your usual size on the brand chart. One gown, the Rolled Sleeves Button-Front Gown in Black, runs small.
The house sizes in US numbers: US 2 is UK 6, US 4 is UK 8, US 6 is UK 10 and US 8 is UK 12. The model on Carolina Herrera product pages is about 177 to 180 cm tall and wears a US 2 (UK 6). The full chart is in our Carolina Herrera size guide. Allow time for alterations before the date, especially on gown hems.
