Roland Mouret was born in Lourdes in 1961 and came to fashion through modelling and styling, not through pattern cutting. He founded the label in London in 1998. The Galaxy dress made the method famous in the mid-2000s, and the engineering behind it is still what you are buying: internal corsetry, boning and lining do the structural work, so the outer cloth stays clean and uninterrupted. The label lost the right to its founder’s name in 2006 and bought it back in September 2010. Today the house is owned by SP Collection, led by Han Chong.
