Mary Katrantzou is the London house that made print the structure of a garment rather than its decoration. The Greek designer founded her label in 2008 straight out of Central Saint Martins, and she engineers each print to a specific pattern piece, so a motif is drawn to meet a seam, a waist, a hem. Her work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Luxury Handbags carries the Spring/Summer 2026 collection, where that method moves into summer cloth: Venetian glass, gingham tablescapes and stitched linen borders, cut into dresses, kaftans and swim.

The Luxury Handbags editor’s guide to Mary Katrantzou
Buy a Katrantzou for the print first. The silhouettes are deliberately clean, because the artwork has to carry the piece, and that is why these read as occasion clothes even in cotton. Keep the rest of the look flat: a bare sandal, a plain bag, gold kept small. A print this engineered does not want competition.
The Spring/Summer 2026 collection splits into six print families, and they behave differently on the body.
- Reticello Rainbow and Reticello Primrose take their geometry from Venetian glass blown in the Reticello technique. The colour arrives as ribbons across the body. These are the jersey pieces, so they hold the figure closely and suit an evening.
- Fruitavola builds botanical fruits and branches in trompe l’oeil raffia against crisp linen. It is the tablescape story, and it works for a summer wedding.
- Blanchetto Linen collects hundreds of stitched borders lifted from napkins and tablecloths, tessellated into scalloped stripes on a white ground. The quietest family in the collection.
- Tutifruti Gingham overlays tropical flowers on folded candy ginghams. This is where the beach and resort separates sit.
- Fleur de Vichy pairs folded gingham with painterly florals in two colourways, Blueberry and Cherry.
Mary Katrantzou sizing at a glance
The house sizes in UK and publishes an international conversion chart rather than per-garment measurements. It states no sizing correction anywhere on its product pages, so order your usual UK size. The fitted jersey styles hold the body closely by design, and the linen and cotton poplin pieces carry more ease. On the house chart the letter run spans a UK 6 at XS through to a UK 24 at XXL.

Who is Mary Katrantzou
Mary Katrantzou was born in Athens in 1983. She read architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design before moving to Central Saint Martins in London, where she took a BA in textile design and an MA in fashion, and she founded her label in 2008 on the strength of that MA show. The house has been based in London ever since. She has won the Swiss Textiles Award, the British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent and the BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, and since 2024 she has also been creative director of leather goods and accessories at Bulgari alongside her own label.
Frequently asked questions
Does Mary Katrantzou run true to size?
Yes. The house publishes an international conversion chart and states no sizing correction on its product pages, so order your usual UK size. The fitted jersey pieces sit close to the body by design, and the linen and poplin styles carry more ease.
What is Mary Katrantzou known for?
Engineered digital print. Rather than repeating a motif across a bolt of cloth, she draws the artwork to a specific pattern piece so it lands where the seam falls. That method is why she is called the Queen of Print, and it is why her early collections could put trompe l’oeil rooms and oversized jewellery onto jersey.
Is Mary Katrantzou a luxury brand?
Yes. The label shows at London Fashion Week, its work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and pieces at Luxury Handbags run from around 670 to 4,030 US dollars. The designer also holds a creative director role at Bulgari.
Where is Mary Katrantzou made?
The house is based in London and does not publish a country of manufacture on its product pages. Luxury Handbags lists the brand under the United Kingdom because that is where the label is designed.
What should I wear Mary Katrantzou to?
Summer weddings, resort travel and evening events. The jersey and satin pieces read as eveningwear, and the cotton and linen styles carry a garden party as easily as a city afternoon.
